Astrogravure

An astrogravure is, by my definition, an astronomical photograph (usually made with state-of-the-art cameras and telescopes) processed using the slow, manual method of etching a metal plate from which a hand-inked and hand-printed image is made. It is the combination of modern, hi-tech imaging techniques and an ancient etching process (though nowadays much safer!) used by artists since the 16th century.

There is a separate website showcasing the astrogravure project at https://astrogravure.uk
