This beautiful long parsnip was dug from the deep, sandy loam at Five Acre Community Farm. Its long, elegant root would have penetrated easily through the soft soil to access moisture and nutrients from deep down and this action created the slender and delicate form we see here. On top of this, the delicately-patterned, white flesh contrasts - in both texture and spirit - with the frozen leaves on which it lies.
